Who pioneers the Manel Mal (Water Lilly) Movement ?
Convener of the Manel Mal Movement is a renowned patriotic Barrister S. L. Gunasekara. The spouse of the eminent foreign minister Lakshman Kadirgamar is also in the forefront as an honorable member. Also in the forefront are prominent intellectuals, artistes and athletes. This is an organization founded by Patriotic National Movement (PNM).

“Manel Mal Movement” for whom?
Manel Mal (Water Lilies) Movement is a Movement dedicated for the protection of security forces members who fight against the Tamil Elam Tiger terrorists at the expense of their lives and support the villages threatened by Tiger terrorists. Its objectives are
- Boosting the morale of the members of security forces who fight against separatist terrorism and looking after their welfare.
- Bringing their problems to the notice of the authorities and facilitating their solutions
- Creation of a sense of recognition of the role of the members of security forces within the society
- Help to east difficulties in the families of the members of security forces
- Invigorating the villages threatened by Tiger terrorists
Why contribute to Manel Mal Movement?
This movement will not only inject vigour and courage to the soldiers who fight against the murderous Tiger terrorism but also will help forge a healthy relationship between the general public and members of security forces. This is a much needed task before the nation today. This requires the contribution of all sons and daughters of the land.
